Under some new waivers granted by the State Department, new visa applicants for H-2A and H-2B workers can get their visas approved without requiring in-person interviews. When embassies and consulate offices announced earlier this month they would stop in-person visa interviews, that risked curbing the number of H-2A workers farmers could bring into the U.S. this year.

After the trade dispute with China began, the planting choice favored corn over soybeans. In 2020, the better odds for a higher return have now shifted back to soybeans.

The House passed the CARES Act by unanimous consent Friday. The legislation has nearly $2.2 trillion in aid, including $14 billion that would boost USDA's Commodity Credit Corp., and provide a specific aid set aside for livestock producers, dairy farmers and farmers who sell directly at farmers markets or sell to other businesses affected by the shutdown.
May corn is down 3/4 cent per bushel, May soybeans are up 8 1/2 cents, and May KC wheat is up 7 1/4 cents.
Limit losses through the end of the week in all nearby livestock trade is opening the door for additional early morning pressure as concerns of expanding COVID-19 cases through the country add uncertainty about short- and long-term meat demand.
